Daber (C/R), Nov 12, GNA – More than 3,000 school children and some adults in four deprived communities in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District were on Friday screened for teeth and gum disease.
The exercise was under the Ghana Health Service ‘oral health outreach’ programme in the Central Region.
The recipients from Daber, Benyadze, Egyeikrom and Dominase either had their teeth extracted or scaled, while those with serious oral health problems were referred to the hospitals.
Briefing newsmen about the exercise Dr Yaw Ofori-Yeboah, coordinator of the programme and KEEA District Director of Health Services, said it is meant for children and adults who have no ready access to oral health care delivery in the region. He said six districts have been selected for the exercise in the region and that about 2,000 school children in the Awutu-Efutu District have already benefited.
In another development, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the Minister of Energy, also on Friday presented 30 hospital beds and mattresses and 41 blankets for distribution to health centres in the district.
