Buyer cause the arrest of alleged thief

Asamankese, April 10, GNA – The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced Kwabena Kamasah, a 22-year-old labourer to two weeks’ imprisonment for stealing coco yam.

The court also fined him three million cedis or in default serves another two years’ jail sentence.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eric Okyere told the Court that the complainant, Opanin Kevasi Sesah, complained of people stealing his cocoyam from his farm.

He said traders in the area were informed about the theft and were asked to be on the look out.

Chief Inspector Okyere said one of the traders became suspicious when the accused attempted selling a mini-bag of cocoyam to her on March 31.

The trader alerted others who arrested Kamasah and sent him to the chief’s palace where he admitted stealing from Opanin Sesah’s farm and was handed over to the Akwatia Police.
