Butchers appeal for water, electricity supply

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 25, GNA – Butchers at Nkoranza Market have appealed to the District Assembly to extend water system as well as electricity to their workplace to enhance their activities.

Mr. Mahmudu Adams-Boss, spokesman of the butchers told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza on Tuesday that the lack of such facilities was affecting their activities. Mr. Adams-Boss complained that they always hired women to carry water from other places to them before they are able to scrub the floor and clean the areas where they work.

The provision of power system would also enable them to store some of the meat that would not be consumed by the people in a day as they would arrange to install a large refrigerator for the storage facility. The butchers also urged the assembly to construct a urinal closer to their workplace to prevent people from urinating on the walls of their building.

Meanwhile, all butchers have been advised to ensure that any animal they slaughter to the market is always examined by the officials of the Environmental Health Division so as to prevent the outbreak of epidemics in the communities.
