Busunya community to build permanent Police Station

Busunya, (B/A), May 4, GNA – Residents of Busunya in the Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo have decided to construct a permanent Police Station in place of a rented premises as the present facility is at the verge of collapse.

The people are therefore making special contribution towards the project. Resident citizens are paying 20,000 cedis per man and 10,000 cedis per woman, while the non-residents also contribute 50,000 cedis a man and 25,000 cedis a woman.

Mr. Emmanuel Opoku-Wiafe, Community Project Implementation Committee Chairman told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Busunya on Tuesday that the Management of the Fiagya Rural Bank in the area had presented 100 bags of cement to support the people on the project. Mr. Opoku-Wiafe said the people had managed to mould 2,800 blocks with the cement towards the start of the project.

He announced that the Police Station would go a long way to promote the development of the area, as the personnel would help combat crime and ensure the security of the people and their property.

Busunya community has a Bank, a Health Centre, a Senior Secondary School and is also the Headquarters of the Nkoranza North Constituency hence the Police Station in the area is in the right direction. Mr. Opoku-Wiafe also said the area contained a number of settler farmers of different ethnic groups and the Police would help to maintain law and order among them.

Meanwhile, the Nkoranza District Assembly has constructed an office accommodation valued at over 200 million cedis for the Busunya Area Council.

The office will serve communities such as Busunya, Kwaasi, Akonkonti, Odumasi, Timiabu, Akrudwa Number one and Two, Boabeng, Fiema, Bonte, Moniri and Mangoase-Junction.
