Businesswoman ‘murdered’ in her shop at Akatsi

Police at Akatsi in the Volta region have launched investigations into a suspected murder incidence involving a trader.

The middle-aged woman was found dead in her shop at Akatsi 4 Junction with multiple knife wounds on her body early Friday.

Information gathered by Starr News indicated that the deceased, Evelyn Abbah, popularly known as ‘Mamator’ had passed the night in the shop, which remained closed after daybreak, an unusual situation that compelled her daughter to force the shop opened after several failed attempts to reach her mum on the phone.

Upon opening the shop, the trader was found in a pool of blood with multiple wounds inflicted on her with the wares in the shop scattered.

The Akatsi district Police Commander, Supt. Bismark Agyapong, who confirmed the incident to the media said investigations have begun immediately to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the murder.

“A lady and her father came to report at the station about her mother who sleeps in her shop and was found dead in a pool of blood. When we go to the scene, we realized the environment was scattered and there were multiple wounds on the body and 6 of them on her neck. So clearly from our perspective this is a murder and that is our suspicion for now. We have since taken the body to the morgue for autopsy,” he stated.

He however added that there was no sign of looting in the shop to back the suspicion of a robbery attack but appealed for information from the public that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.

This latest incident has however sent shock waves down the spin of many Akatsi residents who are reportedly living in a state of fear.
