Businesswoman granted bail for fictitious trading

The Tarkwa Magistrate’s Court one has granted a GH¢2,000.00 bail, with a surety to be justified, to a 38 year-old businesswoman, Mary Ayisi for engaging in fictitious trading.

The accused person who deals in local gin popularly known as “Akpeteshie” pleaded guilty with explanation on the charge.

She will re-appear before the court presided over by Mr. Jonathan Nunoo on November 19.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman said that the complainant Kwabena Arku, is a farmer, palm wine tapper and a local gin distiller, who lives at Kofi Gyan in the Prestea Huni/Valley District, while the accused is a resident at Nzimaline, a suburb of Tarkwa.

She said in May this year, accused visited her customer at Kofi Gyan and she pleaded with him to help her get some local gin on credit from his friends.

Inspector Anaman said because of the cordial relationship between the two, he led her to the complainants work site and credited one drum of akpeteshie worth GH¢1,260.00 for her.

The accused person after receiving the drink promised to settle the bill within a week but she failed.

The Prosecutor said all efforts made by the complainant to trace the where about of the accused to enable him retrieve the drink or his money did not materialized.

The complainant together with a witness who serves as his personal aid at his work site decided to track the accused person.

Inspector Anaman said the witness met the accused person in a public transport from Asankragwa heading towards Tarkwa and he quickly informed the complainant and she was escorted to the police station, and a report made.

The police after investigations put her before Court.
