Businessman to spend 48 million cedis to assist hospitals

Mampong (Ash), Dec 18, GNA- Mr Kofi Oppong-Kyekyeku, Managing Director of Kopps and Wills, a commercial firm in Accra, said on Thursday that his company would donate medical items, television sets and fridges to some hospitals before the end of the year.

He said already he has spent 38 million cedis on 23 television sets and fridges to 14 hospitals in the country.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku said this when he presented one television set valued at 1.7 million cedis to the Asante-Mampong Government Hospital. He had earlier made similar donations of a television set each to the Saint Michael’s Catholic Hospital at Pramso and the Asante-Bekwai Government Hospital.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku said apart from the donations the company is painting the male and children’s wards of the Saint Martin’s Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District.

He said plans are also afoot to supply assorted medical items to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and stretchers to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw.

Miss Florence Angmeh, Nursing Officer in-charge of the Out-Patients Department of the Mampong Hospital who received the television set, thanked the donor.
