Businessman remanded for stealing Benz bus

Tema, Sept. 12, GNA- The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’, has remanded a businessman for allegedly stealing an unregistered Benz bus valued at 65 million cedis, in addition to one million cedis cash. Charles Oppong, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear in two weeks time.

Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor, told the court that on August 6, this year, the complainant who was seriously sick and bedridden, asked the accused to licence the vehicle and gave him one million cedis cash to facilitate the licensing.

Chief Inspector Nutakor said after collecting the money and the bus, the accused person went into hiding.

On August 26 this year, the complainant had information that the accused was hiding at Manet Estates and informed the police. The accused was therefore arrested.

The presiding judge ordered that the accused person be sent to Kumasi, where he allegedly sold the vehicle to retrieve it.
