Businessman poised to contest Nhyiaeso parliamentary seat

The parliamentary contest in the Nhyiaeso Constituency which has been tipped to be one of the seats to be hotly contested in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, appears to be shaping up.

A third force from the camp of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), a Young Businessman Kofi Debrah Afrifah has filed his nomination at the regional headquarters of the PPP on Friday.

Kofi Debrah Afrifah is coming against a well marketed former organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Kankam and the former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Samuel Sarpong.

Even though Nhyiaeso is a safe seat for the NPP, all the candidates in the parliamentary race are contesting for the first time as the incumbent MP Dr. Richard Anane lost in the constituency primaries of the party.

Speaking to Ultimate News at the regional head quarters of the PPP, the candidate indicated that though the lines appear to be stiffly drawn for all contesting parties; he finds the chances of the PPP bright.

“Everybody is saying Nhyiaeso is very strong and I know that the NPP has dominated the constituency for a very long time. But looking at what Dr Anane has done, it’s now time for us to also change things for people to also know what the PPP has under our sleeves, and we believe we have a lot that makes our chance so bright,” he exuded.

He told Ultimate News’ Ivan Korshie Heathcote – Fumador, that his trump card will be job creation and youth empowerment.

He outlined that he had already shown that commitment by establishing himself within the Microfinance Industry where he gives loans to market women to expand their businesses.

Kofi Debrah Afrifah further indicated that his works in mobilizing youth in the constituency for communal activities has also earned him some clouts and milage in the Nhyieso Constituency.
