Akim Oda (E/R), Aug. 26, GNA – A 47-year-old businessman charged with four counts of causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace, resisting arrest and assault, has been granted a GH¢2,000 bail, with one surety, by the Akim Oda Circuit Court.
Thomas Adarkwah Miller pleaded not guilty to the charges and would reappear before the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor on August 27.
Briefing the court, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah stated that Mr Robert Frimpong, a fried-rice seller, is the first complainant and Constable Stephen Adu Awuku, the second complainant, lived with Miller at Akim Oda.
He said on August 8, this year at about 1530 hours, Miller went to Mr Frimpong’s 93kitchen” and without any provocation, poured a quantity of his “shito stew” valued at GH¢50.00 away.
Mr Frimpong reported the matter to the Police and Constable Awuku was detailed to arrest Miller, but Miller felt offended and insulted Constable Awuku as a 93foolish Policeman with a horrible face” and also resisted arrest.
According to Inspector Appiah, Miller pounced on Corporal Awuku and assaulted him, until some people around overpowered Miller and arrested him.
