Businessman Jailed For Fraud

Accra, (Greater Accra) 11 Nov. An Accra circuit tribunal has jailed Kwaku Danso, a businessman, for three years for forgery, fraud, possessing forged document and issuing a dud cheque. Danso, 22, pleaded guilty . The case for the prosecution is that in July this year, Master Benjamin Sackey, befriended the accused who got to know that he (the student) was interested in getting admission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The prosecution said the accused promised to assist him and collected 650,000 cedis from him. He presented him with an admission letter purported to have been signed on behalf of the Registrar of the University. According to the prosecution, when Master Sackey presented the admission letter at the university, he was told that it was a forged one. A report was made to the police in Accra who arrested Danso. During a search in his room, a Bachelor of Arts certificate in Political Science and History was found to be forged. .
