Businessman jailed 15 years for defilement

Tema, Feb. 22, GNA – A 20-year-old businessman at Ashaiman has been jailed 15 years by the Tema Circuit Court “B” for defiling a 14-year-old girl.

who took advantage of a 14 year old ice water seller who had stomach upset, sent her home late in the night, brought her to his house and had sex with her has been jailed 15 years by the Tema circuit court ‘B’. Moses Amenu pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, DSP Robert Anyusiya Aganiba told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on February 7, 2005, at about 18:30 hours, the victim who was selling ice water developed running stomach so she went and rested behind the house of the accused.

He said the accused spotted the victim and asked why she was at the spot, she explained she was having stomach problem, he then sent her to her house at the Lebanon, Ashaiman.

DSP Aganiba said on reaching the house at 23:30 hours, they found that the main gate to the house was locked, the accused then persuaded the victim to go his house at VALCO Flats at Ashaiman to pass the night. The victim had her bath and some food and after slept with the accused on the same bed. He had sexual intercourse with her twice.

DSP Aganiba said at 0300 hours, the accused gave a pair of shorts and T-shirt to the victim and sent her to her guardian. When the victim was interrogated, she revealed her ordeal.

He said the accused was arrested and in his cautioned statement, he admitted the offence.
