Businessman enstooled as Piasehene

Kuntanase (Ash), April 26, GNA – Osei Afriyie, a 36-year-old businessman was on Thursday enstooled as the chief of Piase near Kuntanase in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district at a colourful ceremony at Kuntanase.

He succeeded Nana Atta Fosu who died a few years ago.

However, a few minutes before the swearing the oath of allegiance to Barima Adu Gyamfi Poku, Kuntanasehene, Nana Adu Bofour, an ex-chief of Piase and his supporters numbering about 50 besieged the Kuntanase chief’s palace amid shouting of protests.

When he was given the chance to state his case, Nana Adu Bofour said he and his people objected to the enstoolment of the new chief. However, Barima Adu Gyamfi Poku over-ruled the objection, pointing out to him that he did not object to the nomination and selection of Osei Afriyie when the Kingmakers made the choice, neither did he bring any nominee of their choice, this therefore paved the way for the new chief to swear the oath of allegiance.

Swearing the oath, Nana Osei Gyamera 11, pledged to serve his people, the Kuntanasehene and Asanteman at all times. Barima Adu Gyamfi advised the new chief to be fair and firm in dealing with his people and cautioned him not to take up issue with those who objected to his enstoolment but pull all of them to his side to ensure the development of the town.

He cautioned him to be very careful in dealing with land cases to forestall litigation at the law courts as the courts were already chocked with numerous land cases.
