Sekondi, April 29, GNA- Mr Matthew T. Aryeetey, Managing Director of Nas Matson Company, has said that the decision of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, to ban the production and sale of sachet water would create economic problems for the manufacturers of the product. He said the entrepreneurs offer employment to a large number of people who would be out of job and add to the number of people in the streets if the ban is enforced.
Mr Aryeetey who is also the Managing Director of Gold filtered water in Takoradi made these remarks when he presented a quantity of refuse bins valued at 5.2 million cedis to the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly, to improve refuse collection and disposal in the area. He suggested the institution of “sanitation days” when the general public would be required to undertake cleanup exercises.
Mr Seth Ecrement of the Waste Management Department of the Assembly who received the bins said the donation was timely and thanked the management of the company for the assistance.
He appealed to other filtered water producers to assist the assembly in its refuse collection and disposal efforts. 29 April 05
