Anyaa (GA/R), Aug. 7, GNA – A Ghanaian businessman based in the United States of America at the weekend donated 60 computers and accessories and eight printing machines worth 600 million cedis to the Darko Nursery and Preparatory School at Anyaa in the Ga South District. The donation which coincided with its fifth anniversary, will serve as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre to promote education among the pupils.
Inaugurating the centre, the Ga District Director of the Ghana Education Service Mrs Victoria Opoku urged parents to invest in the education of their children instead of buying expensive wax prints for funerals.
She reminded the parents that education was the best legacy they could bequeath to their children to enable them to meet future challenges and to become useful citizens.
An ICT consultant Mr George Quagrine, said computers provide information in all fields of endeavour and urged the pupils to take advantage of the opportunity to make themselves computer literate. Mr Maxwell Owusu Agyeman, headmaster, appealed to parents to pay their wards’ fees regularly to enable the school to run smoothly.
