Kumasi, Jan 13, GNA- A 30-year-old businessman who allegedly defiled a 13-year-old pupil of the Wiamoase local authority primary school and impregnated her has been arrested.
Kofi Agyapong, the businessman is said to have forcibly had sex with the victim in August last year at Wiamoase when the uncle sent her on an errand.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Tuesday, a source at the Ashanti Regional Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) of the Ghana Police Service, said the uncle of the victim sent her to the house on an errand.
The source said the suspect found that there was no one in the house and sexually abused her.
Not satisfied with that, the source said, Agyapong later invited the victim to the house and had sex with her again. Police said later the girl fell sick and when she was sent to the hospital, a medical report indicated that she was 18 weeks pregnant. The source said a report was therefore made to the police when the girl mentioned Agyapong as the one who impregnated her. He was consequently arrested in Kumasi where he was hiding.
