Businessman calls for PSI on cassava at Dormaa Ahenkro

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) March 25, GNA- Nana Ameyaw, a businessman at Sunyani and a citizen of Dormaa Ahenkro has appealed to the government to establish the Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) on Cassava project in the Dormaa District in Brong Ahafo.

A statement issued on Wednesday and signed by him noted that “our land which used to be cocoa farms are now used for the cultivation of cassava and maize as a result of the devastating bushfires in 1983”. He said since then unemployment has gone up among the youth and had decided to embrace the Initiative on Cassava production.

The statement said it is the desire of the people at Dormaa Ahenkro to establish a cassava project like the one at Bawjiase in the Central Region to help reduce unemployment in the area.

If the factory cannot be established in the district now, the government could make available to us some cassava seedlings so that we would help feed the Bawjiase factory, the statement said.

The statement said the people in the district were appreciative of government efforts in helping to alleviate poverty among Ghanaians and commended it for the introduction of many Initiatives, which had created employment.
