Inflation increased from 5.2 per cent in September to 5.5 per cent in October 2026, marking its third successive monthly rise since July.
Dr Iddrisu announced the figures on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, and said non-food inflation continued to account for most of the increase.

Non-food inflation made up about 76 per cent of the overall rate, while food inflation contributed the remaining 24 per cent. He said the rise was driven largely by higher prices in the services sector.
“In very simple language, of every one Ghana cedi price rise in October 2026, about 76 pesewas came from non-food items, and 24 pesewas came from food,” Dr Iddrisu said.
Despite the overall increase, food inflation fell to 2.8 per cent in October, compared with 4 per cent in September and 9.5 per cent in October 2025.
Food prices declined by 2 per cent between September and October. That fall helped produce an overall 0.1 per cent reduction in prices over the same period on a month-on-month basis.
Services inflation moved in the opposite direction, rising sharply from 8.3 per cent in September to 11.5 per cent in October. Goods inflation decreased from 4.2 per cent to 3.8 per cent.
Dr Iddrisu said the official 5.5 per cent figure could be applied by businesses when reviewing prices and contracts.
He also outlined how the government could make use of the detailed inflation data, including figures broken down by region and individual items.
“Government could use the regional and item data to target support where prices rise fastest,” he said.
