”Major row breaks over City Hotel purchase”, says the Business Chronicle in a lead front page headline.

The paper says a local hospitality group, Ace Hotels and Resorts Limited (AHCR), has sued the Attorney-General and the Divestiture Implementation Committee (DIC) over the sale of the City Hotel in Kumasi.

The plaintiff, the paper says, is seeking a declaration that it is solely entitled to a formal transfer of the title deed, the necessary relevant, legal and equitable interest in the City Hotel appurtenances from the defendants.

Ace Hotel is also seeking an order compelling the defendants, especially the DIC, to specifically draft and prepare for execution and further execute a sale and purchase agreement transferring all necessary and relevant interests in the hotel, as well as a provision for financial indemnity against bank charges, interests and liabilities to be assessed arising from a delay in the transfer.

The Business Chronicle says the plaintiff is also seeking special damages of 2,000 pounds sterling per diem from June 22, 1998 to date of judgement. GRi
