BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS JOURNALISTS ATTEND WORKSHOP

A five day seminar on economic and business journalism for practising journalists from the print and electronic media has opened in Accra. It is being organised by the Ghana Journalists Association and Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. It is designed to give journalists a clearer understanding of today’s economic realities and how to make economic issues interesting and accessible. Opening it, the Acting Resident Representative of the World Bank in Ghana Mr.. Gregory Hancook, said the World Bank attaches great importance to the seminar, because it will open dialogue between it and civil societies in Ghana. He said the Economic Development Institute seeks to sharpen their skills for analytical reporting of economic issues. The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mrs. Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, said the seminar has come at a time when economic liberalisation has become a global phenomenon. She called on journalists to specialise in economic reporting to enable them to explain government financial policies to the people./ End
