Bushfire ravages Adaklu-Anyigbe District

Kpetoe, Jan.11, GNA-A bushfire believed to have started from the Togo side of Kpetoe township on Thursday ravaged the Adaklu-Anyigbe District Assembly bungalows under construction and destroyed items worth over GHc 50,000. Uncompleted buildings and building materials were been burnt down completely. Mr Gershon Gadzekpo, Adaklu-Anyigbe District Coordinating Director who briefed the GNA said one of the bungalows had its roof razed down with a structure belonging to the contractor completely destroyed. He said the timely intervention by Fire Service personnel from Ho prevented the District Chief Executive’s residence from being razed down as they cleared bushes around the residence. Mr Gadzekpo said the fire was seen a week ago from the Togo side and that it was surprising how it got to the area. He said the Assembly would make a report to the consultant and if possible re-award the contract. The Director said the Assembly had however embarked on sensitization programmes against bushfire and warned that anybody found causing bushfire would be dealt with.
