Bushfire destroys two-hectare cocoa farm

Akim Osino (E/R), Feb. 8, GNA – Tragedy hit a 55-year-old widow, Madam Beatrice Nartey at the week-end when her two-hectare cocoa farm at Akim Osino was burnt down.

Briefing Ghana News Agency(GNA) at Akim Osino in the Fanteakwa District, Madam Nartey said her late husband bequeathed the farm to her to support herself and their children .

Madam Nartey said she went to the farm sometime last week to spray the cocoa farm and three days later she decided to visit with her farm hand only to find the farm burnt, while all other farms bordering her own were intact.

She reported the incident to the police at Akim Osino and later to the Chief of Osino, Osabarima Osampanin, II, who caused gong-gong to be beaten for the culprit to own up. At the time of going to the press the police were still investigating the case but no arrest had been made.
