Bushfire destroys electricity poles

Yaakrom (B/A) March 4, GNA- Bushfire that occurred at Duasidan and Yaakrom in Dormaa Municipality destroyed 40 high tension electricity poles. Mr. Simon Yaw Mensah, Volta River Authority (VRA) official for the municipality led other VRA staff to visit the scenes of the destruction. Mr Mensah told Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the development resulted in the disruption of power supply to Yaakrom adding that it would also delay the extension of electricity to Nkrankwanta and other towns in the area. He said the setting of bushfires had affected the performance of Electricity Company of Ghana in the municipality this year, causing power outages. Mr Mensah urged the public to volunteer information on perpetrators of the offence so that they could be dealt with according to the law.
