Bus driver, passenger feared dead in Obuasi highway robbery

A bandit of highway robbers on Friday morning attacked a Metro Mass Transit bus on the Obuasi-Kumasi road shooting at the driver and some of the passengers.

The robbers set up an illegal road block between Asikasu and Heman and launched their attack on the transiting bus.

The bus left Obuasi in the morning and was heading for Kumasi when the incident occurred.

The suspicious Driver failed to stop at the road block, therefore, angering the robbers who opened fire on the bus.

Some of the 62 passengers on the bus also got hit in the shooting. It is, however, not clear if any of them died.

Those who got injured have been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The robbery was chanced upon by the Obuasi Municipal Police Commander.
