Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District Assembly confirms DCE

Bunkpurugu(NR), May 19, GNA – Members of Bunkpurugu/ Yunyoo District Assembly last weekend overwhelmingly endorsed Mr Thomas Akar Gyimah as the District Chief Executive at its meeting held at Bunkpurugu.

Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister addressing the assembly urged chiefs and people in the district to put the past behind them and unite to develop the area. He noted that conflicts among the people had affected socio-economic in the area although it had rich natural and human resources.

Alhaji Idris asked the assembly members to open a new chapter in the administration of the district and cooperate with Mr Gyimah to accelerate its development.

He asked Mr Gyimah to seek advice from his predecessors and the chiefs to assist him administer the district efficiently and effectively. “You should endeavour to build bridges of peace between the factions to ensure the district did not relapse into violence. You should ensure even distribution of development projects within the district,” he said. Mr Gyimah, pledged to work hard to reduce the rate of poverty among the people and speed up development in the area. He gave the assurance to run an open-door administration and called for cooperation to ensure the development of the district.
