Bunkpurugu (N/R), July 12, GNA – Mr Clifford Abdallah Braimah, Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP on Wednesday called on Ghanaians to continue to support the government to complete its development agenda to further promote the prevailing democracy in the country. “We should all concede that there is no political party in the country after elections but we should consider ourselves as Ghanaians with one goal, working in the interest and development of mother Ghana”, he said.
Mr Braimah made the call at Bunkpurugu in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District on Wednesday during the party’s constituency executive elections to choose members, who would work to retain the party in power in 2008.
Delegates from 110 polling stations nominated Mr Amos Yambil, as the constituency chairman and Mr Foam Alex Akuka, as secretary, while Amina Danglik became women’s organizer and Laar James Bitian, was also elected youth organizer.
The Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo constituency elections had to delay till now because the constituency album was not prepared for the elections. Mr Braimah claimed that all Ghanaians were now enjoying the dividends of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), using the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as a living testimony, which he said people were now chasing personnel of the scheme to register.
“Members of the NDC, CPP, PNC and the other parties must lend their fullest support to the NPP government to finish its term. The NPP would not hesitate to extend the same cooperation to any party that assumes power in the country”, he emphasised.
He advised party members at the grassroots level to explain the government’s development agenda to the people to appreciate that NPP had the interest of Ghanaians at heart.
Alhaji Alhasan Adoo, Northern Regional chairman of the party called on members of the party and the new executives to close their ranks and work hard to ensure that NPP retained power in 2008. He said party’s performance in the Northern Region is very poor and that the sounding victory for the NPP in 2008 would depend on how hard members would commit themselves in canvassing for votes. He advised all sympathizers of the party to eschew pity squabbles as it was prevailing in other parties and work collectively for the interest of the party.
