Buildings, properties demolished by AMA at Flagstaff house

Several storey buildings and properties running into millions of Ghana cedis have been demolished by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

The buildings and other residential properties opposite the Flagstaff House in Accra were said to have been mounted on an illegal land.

According to the AMA, the land on which the houses stood had apparently been sold to a private developer who gave the residents some time to vacate the area.

XYZ News’ Kwame Danso Acheampong reported that AMA officials refused to disclose the identity of the private developer who had bought the land.

Some residents who were affected by the demolition told XYZ News that government must compensate them to aid them relocate.

Some of the victims also accused the AMA of not giving them adequate time to prepare and move from the area.**
