Building and Civil Engineering Contractors elect new officers

Kumasi, Sept 7, GNA – The Ashanti Regional branch of the association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors has elected new executive officers to run its affairs for a four-year term. About 47 delegates voted to choose the officers in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission. The 16-member executive has Mr Tony Asante-Gyinae as Chairman, Mr John Mensah, Secretary, Madam Aggie Ofori, Treasurer, Mr Joseph Kusi-Appiah, Organizer and Mr Frank Osei Bonsu, Porter. Mr Edward Amanor, National President of the Association, urged the new officers to be committed to duty for the advancement of the construction industry in the country. He said they should liaise with corporate bodies and stakeholders in organizing periodic workshops and seminars to update members on the challenges and dynamics relating to Civil Engineering and Building Works. Mr Amanor expressed dissatisfaction at the government’s inability to pay majority of their members for services rendered, explaining that contracts awarded to their members some two years ago such as the construction of school buildings, drains and culverts were yet to be paid for. 07 Sept 10
