Bui workers embark on sit down strike

Construction workers at the Bui hydro project have embarked on a sit down strike.

They started series of demonstrations on Monday to press home their demand for better conditions of service.

The workers are also accusing their employers Syno-Hydro of unlawfully terminating appointments.

One of the workers who wants to remain anonymous in an interview with XYZ News said they will continue the agitations until their grievances are addressed.

The 400 megawatt hydro electric project is expected to be completed in the next six months.

But the aggrieved workers say their strike can delay the completion.

Meanwhile, officials of the Bui Power Authority have declined comment on the matter.
