Buganda King to celebrate Akwasidae

Accra, May 15, GNA – The Kabaka of Bungada, Uganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, will pay a five-day royal visit to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace from May 17-21, a statement from Manhyia Palace, Kumasi on Thursday said.

The statement signed by the Media Relations Officer, Mr G.B. Osei-Antwi, said whilst in Kumasi, the Buganda King would participate in the Akwasidae Festival which falls on Sunday, 18th May, 2008 at the Manhyia Palace, where a grand durbar of Chiefs and people would be held in his honour.

The statement said Otumfuo Osei Tutu would use the occasion to celebrate his 58th birthday, as well as the ninth year of his enthronement as Asantehene.

The Kabaka of Bungada will visit places of interest including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Guinness Ghana Limited as well as the Centre for National Culture.

The release said Ministers of State, members of the Diplomatic Corps, high ranking officials and other dignitaries as well as the general public are invited.
