Brother, sister drown in river Oti

Ho, Oct. 19, GNA- Two farmers, a man and the sister got drowned and a third sibling rescued, while ferrying yams from their farm across river Oti in the Kete Krachi district. The deceased were named as Kwabena and Nana Yaa and the survivor as Thomas Dembig also a farmer.

Mr. Joy Afagbedzi, Police Inspector in charge of the Volta Regional Police Public Relations department told the press at HO that, Dembig informed the Police at Kete Krachi that on September 24, this year at about 1500 hours, he and his brother and sister were returning from their farm in a canoe loaded with yams across river Oti. Dembig said when they reached the middle of the river the encountered a storm, leading to their canoe capsizing. He said his brother and sister got drowned, but the occupants of another canoe rescued him. Mr. Afagbedzi said the bodies of the two were yet to be recovered from the river.
