Brong Ahafo records low number of motor accidents

Sunyani (B/A) Jan. 6, GNA -Brong-Ahafo Region recorded only one fatal motor accident during the Christmas and New Year holidays, leading to the death of one person.

The Regional Commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Cosmos Afena Damoah, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Wednesday that the accident occurred on the Dumasua- Berekum road.

He said the less number of accidents was the result of intensive public education by his Unit in 2004, citing two seminars for commercial drivers who were exposed to: ” Driving Environment”, “Management”, “Vehicle Maintenance,” “The Role of Traffic Police and “Road Safety Regulations”.

ASP Damoah said road accidents could be curbed if drivers took road safety education seriously.

He asked passengers to advice drivers against over speeding.
