Brong Ahafo Presbytery elects new chairperson

Sunyani, April 5, GNA – The Brong Ahafo Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has elected Reverend Herbert Anim Oppong as its new chairperson.

His election took place at the 38th Presbytery Conference of the church in Sunyani. It was under the theme: “Come Let Us Walk in the Light of the Lord”.

Rev. Oppong who is currently the Director of Ecumenism and Social Relations of the Church, had 59 votes to beat Rev. E.Y Agyem Frimpong, Bantama District Minister of the church, who got 33 votes. Rev Reuben Asenso, Odomase District Minister of the Church was also elected the new Presbytery Clerk. He polled 59 votes to beat Rev Kwame Asamoah Effah of the Seikwa Presbyterian Church who had 33 votes. The Commissioners of the conference also nominated Rev. Dr. Effah Ababio, Rev. Dr. Kwame Amoah-Kuma, out-going Brong Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson, and Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso, Asante Presbytery Chairperson, to contest for the post of Moderator at the church’s next General Assembly. The conference also decided to create a new presbytery to facilitate the work of the church in the area.
