Kumasi, Aug. 19, GNA – The British High Commission has provided assorted food items and drinks to the Muslim Community in Kumasi in a show of solidarity as they journeyed through the Ramadan. The High Commissioner, Mr Peter Jones, joined in to fete them after breaking the fast on Thursday.
Relations between Muslims in the metropolis and the High Commission ha= d over the decades been strong with the British High Commission consistently supporting end-of-Ramadan cultural activities of the Muslims. Mr Jones said they valued their relations with the Muslims and this explained why in the early parts of the year, they facilitated a visit to the United Kingdom by the National Chief Imam. He said the Ramadan was a time of intense devotion and reflections and that its values should 93remind us of the principles, which we hold in common.”
The High Commissioner urged them to remember and pray for their brothers and sisters in Libya and across the world in their struggle for fundamental rights and freedoms for the benefit of future generations. Alhaji Mumin Haroun, Regional Chief Imam, appealed to the UK Governmen= t to assist the Muslim Community by awarding scholarship to the youth to pursue academic careers.
