Aflao, Dec. 22 GNA – The Ghana-Togo border at Aflao witnessed brisk business on Monday with much heavier vehicular and human traffic across the crowded frontier.
With Christmas just three days away, such heavy human and vehicular activities across the frontier were to be expected. There situation however seemed to be fuelled by speculations that the border might be closed prior to the December 28 Presidential run-off in Ghana as happened before the country’s December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Mr. Emmanuel Imprim, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) who is Chairman of the Border Security Committee told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he has no knowledge of any pending closure of the border. He explained that any such action would purely be a national security decision.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian military personnel have been deployed along the frontier and the Aflao town.
