Bright Akwetey takes on CJ again

Accra-based legal practitioner, Bright Akwetey says his quest for an investigation into allegations of judicial misconduct against the Chief Justice should be seen as part of the campaign to root out corruption.

Mr. Akwetey has filed a suit at an Accra High Court demanding the suspension of Justice George Acquah pending the outcome of the investigations.

In an interview with JOYNEWS, Mr. Akwetey said he has nothing personal against the Chief Justice and that he only wants to ensure that the constitution is respected.

?The Constitution requires the President acting on the advice of the Council of State to suspend the Chief Justice during the period of an enquiry or when a petition is received for his removal. This had to be done as far back as March when the committee was constituted”.

” This is June, it has not been done and it is making the Chief Justice have the guts to set up a panel to sit on his own case in the Supreme Court. He should resign from setting up the court if he understands the rule of natural justice, that a person should not be a judge in his own court. He should do it before any body challenges him. He should withdraw?, he said
