Brigadier-General Nunoo-Mensah named National Security Advisor

Accra, Jan. 8, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed Brigadier-General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) as his National Security Advisor.

Additionally, he has authorized the following persons to take temporary responsibility for some Ministries pending the nomination and approval of substantive Ministers.

Vice Admiral E.O. Owusu-Ansah assumes temporary responsibility for the Defence Ministry, whilst Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni takes charge of the Ministry of the Interior.

A three-member team, made up of Togbe Afede XIV, Mr Moses Asaga and Dr Kwabena Duffuor, goes for the Finance Ministry. Togbe Afede heads the team.

Mr. Mahama Ayariga, the Presidential Spokesperson, who announced this to journalists at the Accra International Conference Centre, said the temporary appointments were in line with Article 58 (3) of the 1992 Constitution. Meanwhile, President Atta Mills has directed that all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives should remain at post until further notice.
