Breman Asikuma Sec. School launches 40th anniversary

Accra, Feb. 1, GNA – The Breman Asikuma Secondary School (BASS) on Sunday launched its 40th anniversary celebration with a call on Parents Teacher Association (PTA) and Board of the school, the Methodist church and old students to contribute to the success of the programme.

Launching the programme, the Right Reverend Jeremiah A Morrison, chairman of the Board of Governors of the school announced that the PTA had built a semi-detached bungalow for the staff of the school. He said sod had been cut for work to commence for building of another bungalow in commemoration of the 40th anniversary. Rt. Rev. Morrison said the board was also building a bungalow, which was at roofing level, for the headmaster of the school at a cost of 240 million cedis.

The Board chairman said the Church had proposed to build a clinic for the school to promote health there to facilitate teaching and learning.

He said the school, which was established in 1964 with 60 students and six teachers, had a population of 1161, 46 teaching staff and 57 non-teachers.

Rt. Rev. Morrison commended the MP of the area, Mr P.C. Appiah-Ofori, the District Chief Executive, Mr Sampson Anfako and the paramount chief of Asikuma, Nana Amoakwa Buadu V11 for contributing to the development of the school.

Madam Comfort E. Akomaning, headmistress of the school, said the school was now enjoying electricity thereby facilitating academic work. Nana Miako Mante V, a sub-chief of Breman Asikuma, who represented the Omanhene, advised students to learn hard to enable them pass their examinations to justify the huge investment being made in their education by their parents.

He said the chiefs would continue to assist in the development of the school to improve education in the area.
