Brazilian President arrives on Saturday

Accra, April 18, GNA – Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, will arrive in Accra on Saturday for a three-day official visit to Ghana.

A statement signed by Mr. Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman on Friday, said President Luiz da Silva would hold bilateral talks with President Kufuor at the Castle, Osu.

They will also jointly perform the commissioning of EMBRAPA Regional Office for Africa at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Head Office in Accra.

The Brazilian President’s visit coincides with the opening of the Twelfth Session of United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD XII), which will also be attended by eight other Heads of State as well as the Crown Princess of Thailand.

President Luiz da Silva paid a state visit to Ghana in 2005 and President Kufuor reciprocated with a state visit to Brazil in 2006. It is expected that this visit of the Brazilian President will further strengthen the already cordial relations that exist between the two countries, the statement said.
