BPW plants tree to mark 25th anniversary

Tema, Oct 30, GNA – The Tema branch of the Business and Professional Women (BPW), a non-governmental organisation, on Saturday undertook a two-hour tree planting exercise at Tema to mark the 25th anniversary of the organisation that falls on November 12. The members planted 40 seedlings, mainly Odum, along the streets near the Tema Secondary School.

Ms Josephine Vormawor, national president of the BPW, said the organisation has hired some youth to see to the nurturing of the seedlings to grow while the members would occasionally monitor the exercise to ensure that it was on course.

She said the BPW has, over the past 25 years, trained some women in skills such as batik, tie/dye, soap making and management. Ms Vormawor therefore called on other women to join the organisation to benefit from the programme.

She said activities lined up to mark the silver jubilee include congress, award ceremony and thanksgiving service. 30 Oct 04
