Takoradi, April 22, GNA- Master Sulemana Musa, a 19-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) student who on Monday attempted to use his voter registration slip serial number as index number to sit for the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Takoradi Secondary School Centre “B” was found and sent out of the examination hall.

Mr. Augustus Hans-Anderson, an invigilator, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that few minutes to the start of the examination, Musa, a JSS two student of the Effia Methodist School, came to the centre with an intention to write the English language paper, but he was refused because he had no index number.

He said Master Musa left the scene but returned a few minutes later with his grandmother and produced his voter registration slip as a proof that he was a student but was still not allowed to write the examinations, while the grandmother tried in vain to plead for Musa to be allowed to write the paper.

Mr. Bob Arkoh, headmaster of the Effia JSS told the GNA that Musa repeated JSS three class for two consecutive years because he was truant and was therefore not registered for the examination. He however, said the school could register him for the 2005 examinations if, he comported himself.

Master Musa alleged that he heard a radio announcement that all those who have registered should come to the centre with their registration slips and “assumed that the voter registration slips would be used for the impending examinations”.
