Boy poses as lady prostitute

The Tema Community “1” Police, have in their custody, a 17-year old boy, who posed as a lady and solicited for clients as a prostitute.

The suspect, Michael Afrani, dressed in a miniskirt and a tight fitting blouse, with a ladies handbag and shoes to match, also had stuffed on his chest, folded rugs that resembled female breasts.

Chief Superintendent (Supt) Victor Amedeka, Acting Commander of the Community “1” Police, told journalists that at about 0200 hours on June 20th, 2013, Afrani was brought to the Police Station by a group of people, after being arrested at Community “7”s in Tema.

The suspect, who had joined a group of female prostitutes to attract clients, aroused the suspicion of some of them who doubted his sex.

They confronted him and managed to find out that indeed, he was a male and not female, upon which he was arrested and sent to the Police Station.

Afrani, upon interrogation, said he lived in Atonsu in the Ashanti Region, but came to Tema about a week ago, with a couple of friends.

He said he was gay and soliciting for men, but had dressed like a woman because he had been told by friends that showing openly that he was gay, would get him arrested by the Police.

The suspect said he charged his clients between GH¢25 and GH¢100 for his services, adding that he had practiced his trade from the time he was 15 years. His ladies’ bag was found to contain women’s make up kit and u number of condoms. Chief Supt. Amedeka said the case was being investigated.
