Boy on provisional murder charge

Apam, (Central Region) 14 May, A 17-year-0ld boy, Kojo Ewusie of Gomoa Nkoransa, has been arraigned at the Gomoa Community Tribunal at Apam on a provisional charge of murder. His plea was not taken since the tribunal had no jurisdiction to try the case. The chairman of the tribunal, Mr. E.K.D. Daketsey said since the acused is a juvenile he could not be remanded in prison custody. Instead he committed him into the care of Mr. John Abbam-Badu a staff of the Naitonal Mobilisation Programme who hails from the town and urged the police to expedite their investigations to enable the boy to get a speedy trial at a superior court.
