Cape Coast, April 8, GNA – A circuit court at Cape Coast on Tuesday remanded Issah Quansah, a 19 year old mason, from Rockyhill, a suburb of Cape Coast for allegedly raping a 62- year -old mentally retarded woman. Quansah who pleaded not guilty, is to reappear on Tuesday April 29, 2008.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that on April 3, 2008 at about 0600hours, Ekow Mensah, son of the victim entered their room to pick a bathing soap and to his surprise, he saw Quansah sexually abusing the victim, and he raised the alarm.
He said, the people who rushed to the scene managed to arrest Quansah and took him to Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
He said whiles in custody; Quansah tried to escape but was arrested.
