Boy, 16 allegedly chops off father’s hand, committs suicide

Sixteen year-old Sampson Preprah has reportedly committed suicide five days after hacking his father’s hand off, at Manso Twupease in the Ashanti Region.

It will be recalled that, Nyankonton Mu Nsem on June 1, 2016 reported that, the deceased after an argument with his father, Owusu Peprah hacked his [victim’s] hand.

The deceased had dropout out of school and has joined friends to engage in illegal mining activities popularly known as galamsey.

He was reported to be an active smoker of Indian hemp popularly called ‘wee’.

His father on the said day, confronted his son to go back to school and stop working as an illegal miner.

The deceased who was angered by his father’s complaints allegedly hacked his hand with a machete and went into hiding.

He was discovered by a farmer hanging dead on a tree Sunday morning.

According to Abdul Malik Anokye, the deceased while in hiding called friends on regular basis to inquire about the health of his father.

He is said to have expressed rumours for his action before hanging himself to death. The body has since been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
