Boy, 12, dies after rescue from well

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Dec 17, GNA – Kwasi Tuah, a 12-year-old primary six pupil of the Kofiasua Presbyterian primary school, died on admission at the Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa Ahenkro in Brong Ahafo on Tuesday after he had been rescued from a well.

The deceased went to fetch water from the well at a nearby poultry farm at Kofiasua, near Dormaa-Ahenkro with a colleague, Kwasi Emmanuel, also 12 years old when the incident happened.

Superintendent of Police Charles Samuel Moses Brew (Jnr.), Dormaa District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased was in the process of fetching the water when he slipped into the well. His colleague raised an alarm, which drew the attention of some people who came to his rescue.

The Police Commander said he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on admission.

An autopsy revealed that the boy died of respiratory failure and the body had since been released to the family for burial.
