Bosomtwe District records nineteen major disasters

The Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District recorded 19 major disasters in 18 communities between January and April this year.

Mr Daniel Asuo-Afram, the District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Co-ordinator, said 1,319 people were displaced by the disasters.

Mr Asuo-Afram told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the disasters were mainly rainstorms, which destroyed schools buildings and private houses.

He said through the assistance of the district assembly, NADMO bought 10 packets of roofing sheets and distributed them to the affected schools.

NADMO also supplied relief items to occupants of houses that were affected.

Mr Asuo-Afram commended the role the assembly played and continues to play to support NADMO in preventing and managing disasters in the district.
