Bosomtwe District exceeds polio immunisation target

Kuntanase (Ash), April 21, GNA- Dr (Mrs) Agatha Akua Bonney, Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Director of Health Services, has said that a total of 31,791 children were immunised during the second round of the polio exercise.

She said the figure represented a 103.7 per cent increase of the 30,653 children targeted.

Dr Bonney was speaking at the District’s post immunisation review meeting at Kuntanase on Wednesday.

She attributed the success story to the fact that the District started the exercise two days earlier than the National Immunisation Day exercise, making it possible for the health personnel to reach out to a number of children.

Mr Reuben Bedzrah, District Nutrition Officer, said during the exercise a total of 27,500 were given vitamin “A” capsules to help boost their immune system.
