Bolgatanga, Nov. 11, GNA – The Minister of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, Dr. Konadu Apraku has urged personnel of border operatives and agencies to endeavour to learn the French language to be able to communicate and work with their counterparts in the neighbouring countries.
He said on-going and future training for personnel will include the French language and those already in the employment system will have to take part time classes to study the language.
Dr. Apraku, who answered questions during a workshop for border operatives and agencies said the Ministry would seek funding from Government to support their studies.
On the difficulty of exporting yams to the northern neighbouring countries, the Minister explained that the problem arose with the establishment of the Ghana Export House.
Dr. Apraku said the house became necessary following the yam glut in London where yams there sold cheaper than in the country. He assured that the policy can be reversed or something would be done to enable yam exporters in the north to do so without having to do so from Tema.
