– An educational training manual titled: “Training manual on gender based violence,reproductive heath and rights aimed to raise awareness for the public on gender rights in the country, has been launched in Accra on Wednesday.
The book is the first book to examine Ghana’s compliance with the UN Convention on the fight for a gender based violence free society in the country, and was put together through the collaboration of the Ghana police service, ,through the domestic and victim support unit DOVVSU,UNFPA and the ministry of gender children and social protection.
The book has examined the barriers to realizing gender rights in Ghana and obstacles in seeking to overcome them and it would help in bridging an important gap in literature about Ghana.
The training manual assembled contributions from practitioners in the fields of law, human rights, anthropology, social work, NGOs,and among others.
The book, which is a training manual can also to be use by police in the country in their training colleges which is focused on a wide range of rights of gender based issues, includes approach to ending gender based violence and how to handle cases when they occur . , was launched by Hon John Alexander Ackon,deputy minister of gender children and social protection.
Hon. Ackon commended the Police administration for embarrassing the initiative that will enhance the skills of the Domestic and victim suport unit. DOVVSU
